#1 Open command prompt in any folder
Did you know you can open the command prompt directly in any folder, rather than opening it normally and then navigating to the desired location? Well, you can. And that too without any sort of trouble !!! Just go to the desired folder, press Shift and right-click anywhere inside the window while keeping the Shift key pressed. A menu will pop-up. Click on Open Command Window here. That’s it !! The command prompt window will open and the displayed location inside it will be the same as the folder in which you performed the above task.
There’s another way to open command prompt while you’re inside a folder. Click on the Address Bar (or Press ALT + D) and type cmd. Then press Enter. This opens the Command Prompt window with the current folder at the prompt. This method is faster since it does not require you to use the mouse.
#2 Customize the C:\> prompt
Do you find the C:\> annoying? Would you like to change it to something cool? The prompt command will help you do this. Just type prompt <yournewtext> to replace the command prompt text with some COOL text.
For example, C:\>prompt hellocmd will change the prompt to hellocmd
If you want to restore the normal prompt, type prompt and press Enter.
Note :- The prompt change lasts only for the current Command Prompt session. Once you exit the Command Prompt Window, all changes to the prompt will be undone i.e. the default prompt will be restored.
#3 Modify the title of the Command Prompt Window
You can modify the title of the Command Prompt Window (for the current session only). Type title <newname> and press Enter. The title of the Command Prompt Window will be changed.
For example, title wincodebits
However, as soon as you close the current window, the title set by you will be removed.
#4 Change the look of the Command Prompt
You can also change the appearance of the Command Prompt window. You can modify the text colour and the background colour using the color command. It syntax is : color <background colour><text colour>
For example, color 70 will change the font colour to black and background colour to white as shown below :
