WCB Media Player : Visual Basic
The last few projects viz. the Conical Waterfall, the Stylish Springs and the Ultimate Animation Combo were really quite cool. We really enjoyed creating various types of colourful animations, and we hope you enjoyed them too. 🙂 However, just as one can have too much of a good thing, we’ve had enough of BGI Graphics programming in Turbo C++ lately and would like something different this time.
Here, we present you the WCB Media Player. This media player has been created using Visual Basic and we’ve done our best to make sure you can’t overlook it. Like most of our projects, the WCB Media Player contains the bare minimum controls needed to get the job done i.e. you just open the video file, play it, pause it or stop it. That’s all. No unnecessary features that might slow down the program !!!
You can view the interface and functionality of this program in the screenshots below.
WCB Media Player Screenshots
We couldn’t upload the video of this program because the Screen Recorder software we generally use for recording videos of our programs wasn’t working well (most probably due to the video being a high-definition movie). Anyway, as you can see in the screenshots above, our media player is working perfectly. Please note that this media player uses several codecs from the Windows Media Player API and therefore, it can play only those media formats that Windows Media Player can handle. For example, it played .mp4 and .avi files perfectly, but could not play .mkv files because Windows Media Player doesn’t support .mkv format. Other than that, it’s fully functional.
Click here to download the WCB Media Player project source code (450 KB).
Click here to download the WCB Media Player executable only (74 KB). Please note that to run this executable, you need to place the following DLLs : Interop.WMPLib.dll and AxInterop.WMPLib.dll in the same folder as the executable. Without these libraries, the executable won’t work.
