HelloWin Browser : Visual Basic

The WCB Browser was one of our most popular C++ projects. It contained only the bare minimum controls required for browsing the web, providing a clutter-free browsing experience. However, it had a few drawbacks, e.g. it did not maximize properly and interface was too plain. Apart from all this, it had been created using Qt, not Visual Studio (which is our favourite IDE). Therefore, we created another web browser i.e. the HelloWin Browser. It has been created using Visual Basic.

The HelloWin browser fixes the common problems of the WCB Browser and is user-friendly. You can also modify the interface and functionality of this browser by editing its source code using Visual Studio. Below are a few screenshots of this program :

In the above image, you see the HelloWin Browser as it looks when it is started. It opens the website you’ve set in the source code as homepage. In this case, Google India has been set as the homepage. The browser also incorporates Bing Search. Click on the Bing button next to the Refresh button to visit Bing.

The images below show a search operation being performed in Google and the search results thus generated.

As you can see in the above images, the browser works quite well. If you’d like to see it in action, watch the video below :

Note : This browser is based on Visual Basic, unlike WCB Browser which has been created in C++. Therefore, to edit this project, you must have working experience of Visual Basic.

  • That’s a really COOL project, dude! I have been using it for past 5-6 days and it’s good enough for most of my jobs. I’d suggest you add bookmark support to it, that’d make it much better
