  • It is very easy to find out the source of a cookie.

Just open the file using notepad and search for ".com" (without quotes).

Look at the text which gets selected. If you find "mail.google.com", it means it is a cookie from Gmail. If it has "bing.com", it means it is from Bing. We hope it helps you.

  • How do I identify which cookie belongs to which website? The files in the 'cookies' folder have weird names.

  • Thanks for the information. It really works for my Internet Explorer cookies, cache and other stuff on my Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 PCs. However, I would like to add that non-Microsoft browsers such as Firefox, Chrome etc. store their data at other locations in the appdata/local/ folder. Btw, nice article 🙂
